Program Details
Get your mind and body ready for the rush of the holiday season and spread a little love at the same time.
This Xinalani retreat week is a fund raiser for Kathryn and Jesse pet project, Poses for Paws.
Poses for Paws was created by Kathryn Budig as a way to repay the love that animals bring into our lives. Our mission is to raise money through yoga to donate to shelters and organizations who thrive to provide a loving life to those less fortunate.
There will morning and evening yoga sessions, but this is your holiday, so feel free to spend your days swimming, snorkeling, surfing, hiking, horseback riding or relaxing.
Xinalani Retreat Center is an eco-chic hotel, hidden on a pristine beach surrounded by a luxuriant jungle on the south shore of Banderas Bay, near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Conceived as a tropical haven to host group wellness retreats, Xinalani is a place filled with serenity that shelters individuals in their search for a more balanced life style.
Kathryn and Poses for Paws invite you strengthen your practice and help your LA based furry friends in the process.
About the Teacher
I grew up in Lawrence, Kansas and Princeton, New Jersey. While working toward my BA in English and Drama in The University of Virginia, I discovered a new passion: yoga. My acting and newfound love of this beautiful practice led me to Los Angeles, where I completed the YogaWorks teacher training with Chuck Miller and my mentor, Maty Ezraty. In addition to my mentor, my practice and teaching have been strongly influenced by Seane Corn, Elena Brower, Heath House, Charles James and Noah Maze.
My yoga training is grounded heavily in Ashtanga with a light hearted spin. My goal as a yogi and instructor gradually evolved into teaching creative sequences that make arm balances and inversions accessible to everyone in the room. That blossomed into a well rounded practice that allows us to commit, show up and smile. I teach a playful approach to the practice and want every student who passes through my room to learn the importance and ease of laughter and discovery.
My yogic journey has also allowed me to feed my writing and performing jones have been featured in and work regularly with Yoga Journal as their podcast teacher and contributor. I am a blogger for The Huffington Post and columnist for The Elephant Journal as well as a regular yoga contributor for Yahoo. Shine Healthy Living section. I am honored to serve as the -Yogi-Foodie- Wellness Expert for MindBodyGreen and as an amabassador to Lululemon Santa Monica. In addition, I am the co-founder with Jesse Schein of -Poses for Paws-, an organization dedicated to raising money for animal shelters through yoga. You can experience my class at Yogaworks Santa Monica, yogaglo.com, yogajournal.com, yogichocolate.com, and from Yoga Journal DVD -Yoga for Well-being-.
I look forward to seeing you in class or on the road soon.
