Summit Hot Yoga - Eco-Yoga Adventure "Movement, Mantra and Mudras"
El Retiro de Hot Yoga y Eco-aventura será impartido en inglés. A continuación la descripción redactada por el líder o maestro de yoga
Join Jim, Deby and Latonya for a fun filled Summit Hot Yoga – Eco-Yoga Adventure. No one day will quite be the same, but everyday will be your own personal adventure! We will be practicing and learning about the physical practice, “Movement” of yoga then start to weave in the magic of “Mantra” (words or sound) and Mudras (hand gestures) to allow for the energetic and spiritual aspects of yoga to merge with the physical. Start to layer the energy work of “Mantra and Mudras” with the physical practice – “Movement” – of yoga and notice a shift. Learn techniques to deepen your practice both energetically and physically. Everything you experience here will be able to be used when ever and where ever you are within your yoga practice. The natural and pristine environment at Xinalani will help to facilitate this transformation. Plenty of free time will be allowed for you relax, explore or enjoy the many excursions available!
Each day will include yoga – movement, mantra and mudras.
For early risers there will be tea, coffee, yogurt, fruit and granola available at 7am.
After our morning practice we will be treated to a hearty hot breakfast.
After breakfast free time is available for you to enjoy. Some days we will have group excursions planned like a beautiful hike to a nearby waterfall, a day trip into Old Town Puerto Vallarta for shopping, site seeing and cafes, and for the more adventurous you may opt to go on a run or mountain bike ride with Jim!
A fabulous lunch will be served buffet style. Most afternoons will be for you to relax, rejuvenate, swim or do whatever your heart desires. Don’t forget there is a menu of spa treatments available also!
There is plenty of space for those who wish to be in a bit of solitude to unwind, but also plenty of space to socialize together at the beach or the beverage bar.
We will resume late afternoon with more yoga if you choose before getting ready for our last delicious meal. Sleep will never be better after our adventurous days and the natural manta of the ocean to lull you into rest!
In 1995 my life came to a sudden halt, but it was also the year I was introduced to Yoga. I had been diagnosed with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Leaky Gut Syndrome and Panic Attacks. I found yoga to relieve stress and start the healing process in and outside my body. With pranayama (breath work) I was able to control panic attacks and the over-reaction my nervous system was having due to the allergic reactions. Through home practice and studio practice I saw and felt many changes happening to my body physically as well as spiritually.
I decided that I needed to share what great things yoga had done for me so I did my first Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in January 2005 with the Living Yoga Program in Texas. Then I discovered Hot Yoga! I took Level I Hot Yoga Teacher Training with Jimmy Barkan in Florida in April 2005. Then I was able to take Hot Yoga/Vinyasa Level II-III training in October 2008. I have been certified by Dawnelle Arthur in Yoga Sculpt and I am currently studying under Mark Stephens to complete my 500 hour Yoga Alliance certification.
Through the years I have attended many yoga trainings and intensives with teachers such as Mark Stephens, Jimmy Barkan, Shiva Rea, Sean Corne, Rodney Yee, Rod Stryker, Colleen Saidman, Desiree Runbaugh, Dawnelle Arthur, Charles MacInerney, Ellen Smith, Donna Belk, Lisa Goodwin, Johnny Kest and Lillah Schwartz. I have taken classes in many forms of Hatha yoga such as The Barkan Method, Bikram, Restorative, Ashtanga, Yin, Intregral, Iyengar, Kundalini, Power Yoga, Anusara, Dynamic Flow, Yoga Sculpt, Tai Chi and Qigong classes to name a few. Hot Yoga has a special place for me with the detox and strengthening benefits it has to offer. I will always strive to develop my practice and guide others down a wonderful path of challenge, peacefulness and discovery!
Jim has had an interest in sports activities from a very early age. Growing up near the Jersey Shore, he enjoyed swimming, surfing, skateboarding, basketball, tennis and skiing. He attended Rider University and competed on multiple Intramural team for his fraternity, Theta Chi and was named Athlete of the Year his senior year.
Wanting to maintain his active lifestyle Jim ws introduced to yoga in the mid 90’s. After seeing the benefits his wife Deby had experienced and how yoga had allowed him to stay healthier and more limber with all of his other activites, Jim decided to take his practice to the next level and attended Jimmy Barkan’s Method of Hot Yoga Teacher Training in 2010.
Jim has been teaching at Summit Hot Yoga for the past three years and loves sharing what yoga has done for him. It is expecially helpful to be able to relate with all of the super athletes that reside in Summit County and share what yoga can do to help enhance their overall athletic endeavors. He is also a PSIA Level 2 Ski Instructor for Vail Resorts. He is in his 9th year at Keystone Mountain and is also a Mentor to new instructors as well as a Fitness Ambassador for Vails Resorts Fit to Ride program.
Latonya was placed in ballet classes at the age of 3 to correct problems with her feet and legs and a passion for movement and music was ignited. After performing and teaching dance for most of her life she discovered Vinyasa Yoga in 2003 and loved the way the classes combined music, movement and breath. She was inspired by teachers who combined the vinyasa practice with the principles of Hot Yoga leading her to teacher training with Core Power Yoga in Denver where she completed her 200 hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training in 2010.
Latonya continued her Yoga training with Core Power Level 2 teacher training in 2011 and went on the also get a Yoga Sculpt certification with Dawnelle Arthur of Qi Flow in 2013. She continues to be challenged and amazed with the direction Vinyasa Yoga is takiing and is inspired by connecting breath with movement in different and ambitious ways.
Latonya’s classes are energetic and offer students direction to take their practice to the next level. Students in her classes are encouraged to focus on connecting to their core, and deepen the flow and energy of the breath. When this happens students realize the power a Yoga practice has in trasforming the mind and body, stepping off their mats feeling empowered and enlightened.
