Shri Retreat to Xinalani
with Shannon Paige & Steve Abel
Retreat into the beneficence of the jungle ocean boundary, with the Shri Retreat to Xinalani, where all that wants to be released has the loving containership of the eager earth and the waiting ocean. This is exactly where the power of the mountain behind us, and the constant changing of the water before us, might just inspire your grand, letting go.
Whether you are letting go of something challengingly deep, something chronically stressful, or an old story pattern that no longer serves you, this is the optimal place to feel simultaneously held and free.
We will utilize the embodied techniques of well-aligned and dynamic yoga, inspired meditations, and deep restorative practices to serve your process. Each morning will begin with an optional sunrise meditation to and towards the ocean, led by Steve Abel.
The morning all levels practice will be dynamic led by Shannon and assisted by Steve. It will teach you to follow and build the skills of simple to complex. While doing so, you will gain strength and capacity to stabilize and integrate from your center, the core, the truth within your very nature. Shannon offers a yoga practice from a sincere place of over 20 years of deep experience. From this place, she demonstrates skills that direct you into your unique courage and wisdom, in order to facilitate the release of what no longer serves, what no longer feels real and true.
The later afternoon practice, alternating between Shannon and Steve, will be more down tempo, meditative and even restorative in nature, teaching each of us to embody a spirit of greater nourishment and patterns of drawing in the resources offered but often overlooked. We will learn to make time for the quiet spaces of pause, healing, and ease.
There will be space between practices for quiet reflection, expressive and exciting tours, or simple shade dwelling. Retreats have the invitation to be JUST THIS, a retreat FROM the ordinary into the extraordinary spaces of truth. They offer the perspective to explore life as it is and love how it aims to be in truth flowing forward.
This retreat will line up to the single constancy of the universe, change. We will step into the practices that help us brace against change less and become more dexterous to its constant and often overwhelming input. We will come to know that change’s hand is always on our back and that is a profoundly positive aspect of being alive. We must always and forever take the single step we most fear to take, the one forward.
We laughingly offer forward that this retreat will be co-lead by the Mystic and the Mediator. Shannon, “the mystic,” is a national-touring yoga teacher of teachers and anticipated new author. She is a devoted student of mystic poetry in both her sourcing and her own poetry writing and story telling based on the ancient. Steve, a quiet and earthy personality, has overcome a life he was perhaps chanced not to survive this far. His meditations have been a means of gathering his love for the patterns of love in the world and aiming them directly into the human heart, your heart. The combination is wild, serene, and entirely uncommon.
Join us, it just might be life changing.
To the spirit of this sacred space that we will come to hold together, we bow… Shannon & Steve

About the Teachers
Living wholeheartedly as a teacher and mentor of teachers, Shannon is a spoken word artist, poet, sacred story-teller, and author. Shannon infuses her bodies of work, practices and trainings with a fullness of her living artfully and passionately on and off the mat. Her instruments of instruction are detailed and clear, while woven through a seemingly fluid progression of imagery, poetry and truth. She encourages and supports the practitioner to unlock the secrets held in the human heart, release stuck patterns that no longer serve, and attain new levels of integrated and expressive embodiment. She is described, by many, as one who is “confidently vulnerable” and therefore, one who inspires positive change. Shannon is loving mother of a glorious daughter and is based out of Boulder, Colorado. She travels nationally and internationally to deliver transformative talks, workshops, trainings and retreats.

Steve Abel began his yoga journey with a commitment to ahimsa and Ishvara Pranidhana in his teens, although he would not have used those terms at that time. The next big step was his diagnosis of stable angina and severe coronary artery disease in 1988. That began a healing journey with yoga, starting with a few restorative poses from his first teacher, and breathing and meditation, practiced for 15 years. The journey deepened further with guided practice for a week (2 restorative classes a day) and a layoff in 2003. That led to a move and a new teacher, and she led him to the sutras (The Secret Power of Yoga, by Nischala Devi). Steve began teacher training in 2007 and completed a 200-hour program in December of 2012. His list of teachers on this journey continues to grow, and he is grateful to them all. Steve now teaches restorative classes and just completed training in the Yoga of the Heart program. His intention is to work with cardiac patients and others dealing with serious illness; to share the love, joy, and peace that he has found through regular, sustained yoga practice.
