Planting the Seeds of Peace

Planting the Seeds of Peace

From September 30 to October 07, 2017

Join Misty Parrish and Rose Bruce for an 8-day/7-night yoga retreat at Xinalani (She-nah-lah-nee), an eco-resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico that brings together the best yoga facilities, beautiful eco-chic accommodations, delicious healthy food and a supportive staff, all set on a wide pristine beach and a jungle of breathtaking natural beauty. Xinalani means “seeds” in pre-Hispanic language.

Whether you want to rejuvenate and unplug, reconnect with yourself, immerse yourself in yoga: body, mind, and spirit; commune with nature and like-minded individuals; go on exciting new adventures OR all of the above… this retreat provides you the opportunity to make it all happen. It’s yours to create. We’re here to hold space for you and help you find your peace… whatever that means to you.

Yoga classes will be a balanced mix of Hatha-based vinyasa flow, Yin and restorative with a focus on meditation and pranayama. We will explore the Yamas and the Niyamas, the first two limbs of the 8-fold path. Recommended reading: The Yamas & the Niyamas: Exploring Yoga’s Ethical Practice by Deborah Adele. Optional: Bring your journal.

Please visit the Xinalani website to explore the amazing facilities, accommodations, and location. Keep in mind that this is a JUNGLE setting and that the cabanas are open air. You will see iguana and other flora and fauna outside your doorstep.

Planting the Seeds of Peace

Rose Bruce

I see the signposts along the WAY. I am dedicated to being an explorer of life… perpetually curious, a seeker of spirit, and a traveler of the world (all dimensions). I spread the message of self-love and nourishment so that my fellow travelers can grow, heal and prosper on their own journeys, in their own time. I am grateful for the path that yoga has opened up for me and am dedicated to sharing the abundance it has brought into my life.

In 2000, I began practicing yoga purely as a physical exercise but quickly came to appreciate that there was much more to it than downward facing dog. In a short time, the healing effects of yoga became self-evident. As someone who sat behind a computer all day, I realized that for me, only yoga would counteract the bad habits I had unconsciously developed.  When I established a committed meditation practice, the spiritual side of yoga revealed itself to me in unexpected ways. In 2015, I decided to change my life path and become a yoga teacher. I craved a purpose that was based on heart and I found that purpose in yoga. When I delved into the teachings and history of yoga, I recognized that I would be a life long student that would share what I learned with others… and along the way help them fulfill their needs through the amazing practice of yoga.
In early 2016, I completed a 200-hour Hathavidya teacher training at Steadfast and True in Nashville, TN with Jennifer Campbell-Overbeek and Will Duprey. Will is the founder and director of Hathavidya and is renowned for his teachings of philosophy and energetics.
I am a Certified Yoga Instructor, RYT 200 and am presently in a 300-hour training at Sanctuary for Yoga in Nashville, TN. I hope to have my 500-hour certification completed by the end of 2017, early 2018.

I went to my first “hot” yoga class to find something I could add to my running regimen. When I walked into class I knew it was different. I felt something in me begin to stir after ONE CLASS. After that, I worked yoga into my daily life.

I wasn’t sure what was changing, but something was stirring. This yoga practice helped me to “be still” and to know that there is someone bigger then me in control. I knew I wanted to become a teacher and got my certification. I continue to learn on a daily basis from teachers and students around the country and from ones right here in our own backyard.

I had the privilege of opening a neighborhood studio in 2008 and it thrived as the local “home” studio for 8 years. My classes are fun, inspiring and allow you to feel completely safe and challenged. You will initially come to yoga for the physical “practice’, but what will keep you coming are the changes you will see and feel, physically, mentally and spiritually.
