About the teacher

Retreat and Renew: A Quest for the Good Life

Lisa Acheson

You can often find Lisa’s nose in her laptop or a yoga book quenching her thirst to learn more, but she gives full credit to her practice on the mat for offering the most opportunities for discovery. She believes the work and learning will never come to an end, even in a pose as simple as Tadasana.

While Lisa is quite serious about practice, she’s thoughtful not to take herself so serious she can’t have a good laugh or humble moment (or ten) on her mat during practice or while teaching class. An advocate of simplicity, her teaching is straight-forward and attentive encouraging students to work smart.

Lisa is blessed to have studied with some pretty fantastic yoga teachers, her greatest influence so far from Maty Ezraty, who has inspired her to practice and teach awareness through the focus of alignment-based Hatha yoga. Lisa is a 500-RYT with over six years of teaching experience.

In addition to yoga, she loves the beach, warm climates, and great food–all of which you will be bonding over together in Puerto Vallarta!

Brette Scott

Brette draws on 20 years of practice and teaching to offer dynamic and insightful instructions to her students. Although she loves the challenge and hard work of asana, she aligns with the notions of working smarter, not harder and that yoga should make you feel better not worse. She considers herself a bit old school in the sense that she values a learning environment where slowing down and paying attention are encouraged.

Brette loves to learn and continues her studies with celebrated teachers such as pioneer Maty Ezraty and Christina Sell.

When not at Shakti Yoga, her studio of 17 years, she is a householder, mothering her two elementary age children and yellow lab, Toes.
